Here is an wonderful specimen of the fruit of the guava-like genera Psidium. The example seen here has excellent preservation and the seed definition is superb. The fruit is 3 cm across.
Psidium or guava is a member of the myrtle family Myrtaceae. There are about 100 living species in the genus and are native to tropical and subtropical regions of southeastern Asia, The Americas, and Africa. They are most commonly shrubs and small trees. They are an important food for animals and birds and are most likely propagated from seeds in animal droppings.
