This is a beautiful leaf from the Family Araliaceae. The specimen is part and counter-part. The leaf has superb venation and the margin detail is excellent. This example is collected from the 18 inch layer.
Fossil examples of the Family Araliaceae are undescribed in the scientific literature. There are over 250 living species found all over the world today in a variety of habitats. Living forms include shrubs, vines and small trees.
