This is a very rare fossil of a tree flower (catkin). Catkins are a flowering spike of trees such as willow and hazel. Catkins are typically downy, pendulous, composed of flowers of a single sex, and wind-pollinated. There is also a Mimosites coloradensis leaflet on this slab.
