Here is an outstanding example of D. mammilatum with the original shell in unprepared condition. It still has some iridescent color. The specimen shows very good detail. There is no repair or restoration. The ammonite is 4.5 inches across.
These Lower Cretaceous ammonites are quarried commercially in Madagascar. They are found in a hard basal glauconitic sandstone layer known as the Cleoniceras Zone.
